Knight takes second shot at win No. 900 against Texas A&M

LUBBOCK, Texas (Ticker) - Bob Knight makes his second attempt at career coaching victory No. 900 on Wednesday when Texas Tech hosts No. 9 Texas A&M in a Big 12 Conference game.

The Red Raiders (9-6, 0-1 Big 12) lost to Oklahoma State, 74-55, in Knight's first attempt on Saturday. Texas Tech swept the Aggies (15-1, 1-0) last season, winning each game by two points.

Knight has a career record of 12-5 against A&M, including a 9-4 mark at Texas Tech.

The Aggies haven't been on the record since December 2. A&M has won eight consecutive games and is off to its best start since the 1919-20 team won their first 19 games.

Junior forward Josh Carter leads the Aggies in scoring at 13.6 points per game. Senior forward Joseph Jones averages 11.3 points and 5.0 rebounds, while 7-foot freshman center DeAndre Jordan averages 10.5 points and a team-high 7.2 boards. Jordan leads the nation in field goal accuracy at 75.3 percent (73-for-97).

Senior guard Martin Zeno averages 16.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists for the Red Raiders. Freshman guard John Roberson averages 12 points and junior guard Alan Voskuil averages 12.7 points.

Texas Tech leads the all-time series, 62-53, and is 7-1 at home this season.
