Ole Miss looks to stay on track against Auburn

Jan 19, 2008 - 2:26 PM No. 15 Ole Miss (15-1) at Auburn (10-5) 5:00 pm EST

AUBURN, Alabama (Ticker) - Fresh off a victory over two-time defending champion Florida, No. 15 Mississippi looks to continue its push toward the postseason on Saturday against Auburn.

The Rebels (15-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) are already off to their best start since 1925-26. Mississippi hasn't played in the NCAA Tournament since 2002.

Freshman guard Chris Warren leads the Rebels in scoring at 15.3 points per game. Senior center Dwayne Curtis, who transferred from Auburn (10-5, 1-2) to Mississippi four years ago, averages 15.2 and 8.4 rebounds for the Rebels.

Mississippi beat Auburn twice last season, but is 3-7 in its last 10 road games against the Tigers. Last year's victory at Auburn is the only SEC road win for the Rebels in their last 16 away from home.

The Tigers are led offensively by senior forward Quan Powell and junior forward Korvotney Barber at 13.8 points per game. Barber broke his right hand on December 29 against Towson and is expected to miss a few more weeks with the injury.

Auburn snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 74-67 win over Louisiana State.
