Drake looking to solidify ranking vs. Creighton

OMAHA, Nebraska (Ticker) -- Ranked for the first time in 33 years, No. 23 Drake faces a difficult road test on Tuesday, when it visits Creighton in a Missouri Valley Conference contest.

Drake (16-1, 7-0 MVC) has won 15 consecutive games but has dropped five straight at Creighton by an average margin of 16.6 points. The Bulldogs have not won in Omaha since 2002.

Drake took sole possession of first place in the conference with a 79-73 victory over Illinois State on Saturday. The win catapaulted the Bulldogs into the Top 25 for the first time since the 1974-75 season.

Creighton (14-3, 5-2), which has won 19 of the last 23 meetings against Drake, won its fifth straight game on Saturday with an 86-69 triumph over Indiana State.

Cavel Witter scored 21 points to lead the Bluejays against Indiana State, picking up the slack with leading scorer Dane Watts being held to just seven points.
