UCLA looks to bounce back at Oregon

Jan 24, 2008 - 3:36 PM No. 7 UCLA (16-2) at Oregon (12-6) 10:30 pm EST

EUGENE, Oregon (Ticker) - Seventh-ranked UCLA looks to rebound from a rare loss this season when they visit slumping Oregon in a Pac-10 contest on Thursday.

The Bruins (16-2, 4-1 Pac-10) dropped a 72-63 decision to Southern California on Saturday, snapping a nine-game winning streak.

Freshman Kevin Love had his second straight double-double in the loss, recording 18 points and 12 rebounds. Love, who is an Oregon-native, is averaging 16.8 points and 10.3 rebounds, leading the team in both categories.

The Ducks (12-6, 3-3) have lost two straight games, losing at Washington and Washington State, respectively, last week.

But Oregon is 5-0 at home this season, and have five players who average in double figures.

Senior Malik Hairston leads the way at 18.0 points per game and Maarty Leunen is averaging 15.9 and 9.9 rebounds per contest. Leunen had 20 and 13 against Washington State on Sunday.

The last time these two teams played in Oregon, the Ducks beat then-No. 1 UCLA, handing the Bruins their first loss of the season after UCLA began 14-0 a year ago.
