Georgetown looking to stay atop Big East
Feb 9, 2008 - 11:31 AM No. 6 Georgetown (19-2) at Louisville (17-6) 9:00 pm ESTLOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) - Sixth-ranked Georgetown looks to remain in sole possession of first place in the Big East Conference on Saturday when it visits Louisville.
Georgetown (19-2, 9-1 Big East) has been playing well of late, winning six straight games and 11 of their previous 12. The Hoyas are 1 1/2 games ahead of Notre Dame in the conference.
The Hoyas continued their strong Tuesday with a 63-53 victory over South Florida. DaJuan Summers led the way, scoring a career-high 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting.
Louisville (17-6, 7-3) has won its last two games, including an impressive 71-57 triumph at No. 16 Marquette on Monday. The Cardinals held the Golden Eagles to 32 percent shooting.
