First-place on line in Big Ten

MADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) - Sole possession of first place in the Big Ten is on the line Saturday when eighth-ranked Wisconsin hosts Purdue.

Wisconsin (19-3, 9-1) enters the contest on a three-game winning streak, which includes a 60-54 victory over Iowa on Wednesday.

Marcus Landry scored 16 points and Brian Butch added 12 against Iowa, as the Badgers held the Hawkeyes to just 35 percent shooting.

Wisconsin, which has won 13 of its previous 14 games, led the nation in scoring defense entering the week, allowing just 54.1 points per game.

Purdue (18-5, 9-1) has vaulted into a tie for first place in the Big Ten after winning its last eight games following a loss to then-No. 6 Michigan State on January 8.

The Boilermakers continued their winning ways on Tuesday as Robbie Hummel scored 17 points and E'Twaun Moore added 16 en route to a 67-53 victory over Penn State.
