Clemson gunning for first win at North Carolina

Feb 10, 2008 - 2:48 PM Clemson (17-5) at No. 3 North Carolina (21-2) 6:30 pm EST

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Clemson tries to achieve a first in school history when it visits No. 3 North Carolina on Sunday.

The Tigers (17-5, 5-3 ACC) have never won a game at North Carolina, posting an 0-52 record.

Clemson, which has lost seven straight to the Tar Heels and owns a dismal 19-119 record in the all-time series, enters Sunday's contest on a two-game winning streak and five victories in its last seven games, including an 82-51 drubbing of Virginia on Thursday.

North Carolina (21-2, 6-2) is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 89-78 home loss to arch-rival No. 2 Duke on Wednesday.

Despite the loss, leading scorer and rebounder Tyler Hansbrough had 28 points and 18 boards to pass Michael Jordan for 11th place on the Tar Heels' all-time scoring list.

North Carolina played short-handed against Duke. Ty Lawson, the team's third-leading scorer and starting point guard, missed the game with a sprained left ankle he suffered against Florida State last weekend.
