Texas Tech's Pat Knight still looking for first win
Feb 13, 2008 - 2:05 PM No. 22 Kansas St (17-5) at Texas Tech (12-10) 9:00 pm ESTLUBBOCK, Texas (Ticker) - Newly-appointed Texas Tech coach Pat Knight again goes for his first career victory on Wednesday when the Red Raiders host No. 22 Kansas State in a Big 12 Conference game.
Texas Tech (12-10, 3-5 Big 12) is 0-2 since Bob Knight resigned on February 4 with a Division I-record 902 victories.
Next up for Pat Knight is figuring out a way to slow down Wildcats' freshman sensation Michael Beasley, who is averaging 25.2 points and 12.3 rebounds. Kansas State (17-5, 7-1) has moved back on top of the conference standings.
"I kind of got baptized by fire," Pat Knight said. "But the only bad thing is, I come off the road and now I've got to go face Michael Beasley. So it's still not getting any easier."
Senior guard Martin Zeno leads the Red Raiders with 16 points and 4.5 rebounds. Texas Tech has lost two straight games, but has won six in a row and 10 of 11 at home this season.
The Red Raiders have won five of their last six games against the Wildcats.
