Barnes looks to stay perfect against Baylor

WACO, Texas (Ticker) - No. 11 Texas and coach Rick Barnes looks to continue a 10-year dominance of Baylor in a Big 12 Conference game on Saturday.

In his 10th season as coach of the Longhorns (20-4, 7-2), Barnes has faced the Bears (17-6, 5-4) 21 times and has come away victorious in each one.

Texas is 46-7 against Baylor in the last 53 meetings.

Texas has won four straight, including a 72-69 home victory over No. 3 Kansas on Monday. The victory enabled the Longhorns to reach the 20-win plateau for a school-record ninth consecutive season. The current winning streak started with an 80-72 win over the Bears.

Sophomore guard D.J. Augustin is averaging 19.3 points and 5.8 assists for Texas, which along with Kansas State is a half-game behind the Jayhawks in conference play. Over the last four games, the Longhorns are holding their opponents to 38.9 percent shooting from the field.

Following a 116-110 victory over Texas A&M, Baylor was 16-2 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play. Since then, the Bears are 1-4 and have lost their last two games.

Five players are scoring in double figures for Baylor, led by junior guard Curtis Jerrells at 15 points per game.
