Duke looks to continue hot streak against Wake Forest

Feb 17, 2008 - 3:43 PM No. 2 Duke (22-1) at Wake Forest (15-8) 7:30 pm EST

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Duke has ridden an incredible hot streak to the No. 2 spot in the college rankings.

Duke aims to continue its winning ways Sunday when it visits Wake Forest.

The Blue Devils (22-1, 10-0 ACC) have won 12 consecutive games, with their last and only loss this season coming on December 20, when they were edged, 65-64, in overtime by then-No. 9 Pittsburgh.

Since the loss, Duke has been unstoppable, winning all 12 games by an average of 13 points.

Freshman Kyle Singler scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Blue Devils to a 77-65 victory over Maryland on Wednesday.

Wake Forest (15-8, 5-5) completed back-to-back wins with a 78-70 victory over Florida State on Thursday.

The winning streak came after a two-game slide, as the Demon Deacons continue to struggle to find consistency.

Wake Forest followed a season-high six-game winning streak with a pair of losses before winning two of their next three games.

But the Demon Deacons couldn't keep the momentum going, falling in back-to-back games before winning their last two contests.
