BYU aims to sweep Air Force

Mar 1, 2008 - 2:01 PM Air Force (14-12) at No. 25 BYU (22-6) 9:00 pm EST

PROVO, Utah (Ticker) -- No. 25 Brigham Young seeks a season sweep of Air Force when the Mountain West Conference rivals meet Saturday.

On January 30, the Cougars (22-6, 11-2 MWC) were in the midst of their season-high nine-game winning streak when they routed Air Force, 69-53.

The win was also one of 17 double-digit victories for BYU, which has outscored its foes by an average margin of 17.2 points in its victories.

However, the last two games have represented much more of a challenge for the Cougars.

BYU's nine-game winning streak came to an end in last Saturday's 69-65 loss at San Diego State. In their next game, the Cougars needed overtime to slip past New Mexico, 70-69, as junior center Trent Plaisted hit two free throws with less than six seconds left to cap his 23-point effort.

The Falcons (14-12, 6-7) will be looking for a better showing themselves after last Saturday's 61-59 win over Colorado State, the lone winless team in conference play (0-13).
