No. 7 Kansas looks to avenge loss to Kansas State

Mar 1, 2008 - 2:06 PM Kansas St (18-9) at No. 7 Kansas (25-3) 9:00 pm EST

LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) - Still holding out hope to win a fourth straight Big 12 Conference regular-season title, seventh-ranked Kansas hosts Kansas State on Saturday.

Kansas (25-3, 10-3) trails first-place Texas by one game with three to play.

Entering this contest, the Jayhawks are looking to avenge an 84-75 loss to the Wildcats on January 30. It marked just the second time in the last 37 meetings that Kansas fell to its conference rival. Kansas has been dominant at home, going 18-0.

Sophomore forward Darrell Arthur leads the Jayhawks' balanced scoring attack with 13.7 points per game. Senior forward Darnell Jackson averages 12.3 points and a team-high 6.9 rebounds.

Kansas State has dropped three straight to fall out of the race for the regular- season title. The Wildcats, 2-4 in road conference games, haven't played since a 74-65 home loss to the Longhorns on Monday.

Freshman sensation Michael Beasley continues to impress, averaging 26.2 points and 12.6 rebounds per game. Freshman forward Bill Walker is averaging 16.2 points and 6.7 rebounds, but went 0-of-14 from the field against Texas and finished with only one point.
