Harangody, Notre Dame attempt to bounce back at DePaul

Mar 2, 2008 - 1:42 PM No. 17 Notre Dame (21-6) at Depaul (10-17) 1:00 pm EST

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- No. 17 Notre Dame hopes to get back in the win column and keep alive its faint Big East Conference title hopes when it visits DePaul on Sunday afternoon.

Despite a career-high 40 points from Luke Harangody, the Fighting Irish (21-6, 11-4 Big East) are coming off a 90-85 setback at Louisville on Thursday.

A sophomore, Harangody also had 12 rebounds to go with his outburst to record his third straight double-double. The burly forward leads the conference in scoring at 21.0 points and is second with 10.6 rebounds per game.

Notre Dame currently is two games behind Georgetown (14-3) for first place in the conference but also is one ahead of Marquette (11-6) for the fourth spot, which would mean a bye in the first round of the Big East tournament.

The Blue Demons (10-17, 5-10) have lost four straight games and eight of their last nine, including an 85-73 setback to West Virginia on Wednesday.

Senior Draelon Burns, who scored 31 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the arc in the loss, leads the team in scoring at 17.7 points per game.

The Irish won the first meeting between the teams, 89-80, on February 2.
