No. 16 Vanderbilt looks to finish unbeaten at home

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- No. 16 Vanderbilt looks to complete its first undefeated season at home in 15 years against Mississippi State on Wednesday.

The Commodores (24-5, 9-5 Southeastern Conference) are looking to finish 19-0 at home and also match the school record for most regular-season wins against the SEC West champion Bulldogs (20-8, 11-3).

Vanderbilt, which is 31-1 in its last 32 home games, followed up a 72-69 victory at home over then-No. 1 Tennessee on February 26 with a 78-73 loss at Arkansas on Saturday. In that game, senior guard Shan Foster became the Commodores' all-time leading scorer with 1,895 points.

Foster is averaging 19.8 points and freshman center A.J. Ogilvy is contributing 16.8 points and 6.7 rebounds for the Commodores.

Mississippi State is 6-1 in its last seven games, including a 68-59 win over Florida on Saturday that gave the Bulldogs their fourth SEC West title in six seasons. Mississippi State has won six of the last eight games against Vanderbilt.

Junior swingman Jamont Gordon and senior forward-center Charles Rhodes lead the Bulldogs in scoring at 17.1 points and 16.2 points per game, respectively. Sophomore center/forward Jarvis Varnado is averaging 4.9 blocks and has a total of 136 - more than nine teams in the conference.
