PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (Ticker) -- No. 14 Connecticut faces Providence on Thursday looking for its 13th victory in the last 14 games.

The Huskies (23-6, 12-4) have already locked up a first-round bye in the Big East Conference tournament. The Friars (14-14, 5-11) are battling St. John's and DePaul for the last spot in the 12-team event.

Providence defeated the Huskies earlier this season, 77-65.

The home team has not won in the series since February 5, 2002, when UConn prevailed at the Hartford Civic Center.

The Huskies have won two straight after a loss at Villanova ended a 10-game winning streak.

Junior guard A.J. Price and junior forward Jeff Adrien are averaging 15 points per game for UConn. Adrien leads the Huskies at 9.3 rebounds per game. Sophomore center Hasheem Thabeet is averaging 10.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.4 blocked shots.

Providence ended a five-game losing streak with an 81-79 overtime victory at Cincinnati on Sunday. Junior guard Jeff Xavier leads five Friars averaging in double figures at 12.1 points per game.
