Xavier seeking revenge in A-10 semifinals

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey (Ticker) - Just over one week ago, Saint Joseph's snapped No. 12 Xavier's 11-game winning streak. This time around, the stakes are a little higher.

The Musketeers will be looking for revenge when they face the Hawks in the Atlantic-10 Conference semifinals on Friday.

Xavier had already clinched the regular season crown when they lost at Saint Joseph's, 71-66, on March 6, and are looking to win their second tournament title in the last three seasons.

Five players scored in double figures led by Josh Duncan's 16 points as Xavier held on for a 74-65 victory over Dayton in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

A second win against the Musketeers would greatly enhance the Hawks' Tournament hopes.

Saint Joseph's won an opening round game over Fordham on Wednesday and posted a 61-47 victory over Richmond on Thursday.

Rob Ferguson scored 16 points, while Pat Calathes had 11 points, six rebounds and six assists in the victory. Calathes leads the team in scoring at 17.7 points per game.

The winner will face either Temple or Charlotte in the finals on Saturday.
