Young leads Georgia Tech into matchup with Jackson State

Nov 13, 2006 - 4:04 PM Jackson St (0-1) at No. 21 Georgia Tech (1-0) 7:00 pm EST

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- In his collegiate debut, Thaddeus Young appeared anything but his namesake.

The freshman sensation looks to lead No. 21 Georgia Tech to a second straight win when they face Jackson State on Monday.

A McDonald's All-American and one of the most hyped talents to ever come to Georgia Tech, Young scored 15 points in the Yellow Jackets' season-opening 83-49 triumph against Elon on Friday. He made 7-of-14 shots and pulled down six rebounds in 29 minutes.

Fellow freshman Javaris Crittenton contributed 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals for Georgia Tech, which shot 51 percent (33-of-64) and held a 43-30 rebounding advantage.

Jackson State is coming off a 96-65 pounding against Alabama on Friday night. Trey Johnson was the team's lone bright spot, scoring 36 points behind six 3-pointers. No other Tiger had more than four points.
