UCLA hosts Miami, Ohio as it eyes trip to NYC

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Fourth-ranked UCLA will try and book a trip to New York City on Thursday when it hosts Miami, Ohio in the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.

The winner will play Michigan at Madison Square Garden on November 20. Southern Illinois and fifth-ranked Duke have also advanced to the semifinals of the tournament.

The Bruins advanced with an 82-58 victory over Prairie View A&M on Wednesday behind senior Darren Collison's 19 points.

Freshman Malcolm Lee added 12 points and classmate Jrue Holiday had 11 for UCLA, which shot 52 percent (32-of-62) in the victory.

The Redhawks, of the Mid-American Conference, advanced to the second round with a 70-66 victory over Weber State on Wednesday.

Kenny Hayes, who led the team with 24 points, made the go-ahead 3-pointer with two seconds left, snapping a 66-66 tie.
