UCLA meets Michigan at MSG

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- No. 4 UCLA goes for its third straight win on Thursday when it faces Michigan in the semifinals of the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer at Madison Square Garden.

The winner will play either fifth-ranked Duke or Southern Illinois in the final on Friday.

After defeating Prairie View A&M in their opener, the Bruins (2-0) had a surprisingly difficult time with Miami, Ohio in the second round of the tournament.

UCLA led by one with under one minute to play but Darren Collison and Josh Shipp each made a pair of free throws to secure a 64-59 victory on November 13.

Collison, who has helped UCLA reach three straight Final Fours, leads the team in scoring at 17.5 points per game.

The Wolverines (2-0) cruised to a pair of decisive wins to advance to Madison Square Garden.

Sophomore Manny Harris scored a career-high 30 points in the 77-55 victory over Michigan Tech and followed that performance with 28 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in a 76-56 triumph over Northeastern on November 12.
