Wisconsin meets Iona in Paradise Jam Tournament

ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands (Ticker) -- Wisconsin looks to start the season with three straight wins on Friday when it faces Iona in the first round of the Paradise Jam Tournament.

The 22nd-ranked Badgers had a rocky start, escaping with a seven-point home victory over Long Beach State on Sunday. However, Wisconsin proved that result was a fluke, bouncing back with an 88-58 drubbing against SIU-Edwardsville on Tuesday.

Jon Leuer came off the bench to score 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting for the Badgers while Marcus Landry contributed 15 as Wisconsin grabbed a 40-21 lead at the half and coasted home against SIU-Edwardsville.

Landry added a career-high five blocked shots, the fourth time in his career he has had at least four blocks in a game, and three steals for the Badgers, who connected on 35-of-59 from the field (59 percent) and 8-of-16 from behind the arc.

Wisconsin hopes that hot shooting carries over against Iona, which forged a 59-46 win against Hampton in its season opener last Friday.

Gary Springer paced the Gaels with 22 points and should help his team limit Landry's production in the lane.
