Hughes leads Wisconsin to finals of Paradise Jam

THOMAS, Virgin Islands (Ticker) -- Trevon Hughes scored 22 points to lead No. 22 Wisconsin to a 64-49 victory over San Diego in Sunday's semifinals of the Paradise Jam.Hughes was the only Badger to score in double figures as he was 8-of-13 from the field. Marcus Landry added nine points for Wisconsin, which led 26-20 at the half.
Brandon Johnson scored 19 points and Gyno Pomare added 10 for San Diego, which shot just 33 percent (19-of-57) from the field.
Wisconsin will meet No. 2 Connecticut on Monday in the final of the of the eight-team tournament. San Diego and No. 16 Miami will play in the third-place game.
The Badgers were able to play at their pace and the Toreros never got into a comfort zone on the offensive end.
Wisconsin shot 49 percent from the field while San Diego struggled at 35 percent. The Badgers also had a 22-16 advantage in points in the paint and a 20-11 edge in points off turnovers.
