In new role, Davidson G Curry looks to stay hot vs. Florida Atlantic

Nov 24, 2008 - 5:54 PM Florida Atlantic (3-1) at (25) Davidson (3-1) 8:00 pm EST

NORMAN, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Stephen Curry is evolving into an unstoppable force, especially now that he has been forced to add a new dimension to his game.

The sensational junior guard looks to continue his hot play on Monday when No. 25 Davidson faces Florida Atlantic in an NIT Season Tip-Off consolation game.

Curry wowed the nation in the NCAA Tournament last season with his scoring prowess, but now he has been moved to point guard following the graduation of Jason Richards - the nation's assists leader a year ago.

So far, Curry is doing a pretty good impression of his former teammate. The son of former NBA player Dell Curry scored 30 points and dished out a career-best 13 assists in a 97-70 rout of Winthrop on Friday.

Curry, who scored a career-high 44 points in a loss to Oklahoma on Tuesday, is averaging 34.0 points and 8.8 assists. His exploits have helped the Wildcats (3-1) average 95.3 points.

Florida Atlantic (3-1) is off to its best start in 20 years under former St. John's coach Mike Jarvis. Freshman guard Shavar Richardson scored 18 points in a 77-59 win over the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Saturday.
