Ohio State faces first test against Miami

Dec 2, 2008 - 1:27 PM Ohio State (3-0) at No. 22 Miami, Florida (4-1) 7:00 p.m. EST

CORAL GABLES, Florida (Ticker) -- The schedule is about to get a lot tougher for Ohio State.

After three straight wins to open the season, Ohio State looks to remain undefeated when it faces 22nd-ranked Miami in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Tuesday.

The Buckeyes have earned double-digit victories in two of their first three games, including a 59-22 victory against Samford on Saturday when the team surrendered its fewest points since 1939.

Ohio State held Samford to only 19 percent (9-for-48) shooting from the field but should face a tougher test against Miami, which is averaging 78 points per game.

The Buckeyes need to continue their strong defensive play in order to maintain their momentum ahead of meetings with No. 7 Notre Dame and undefeated Butler.

After suffering a 76-63 setback to second-ranked Connecticut during the Paradise Jam on November 23, the Hurricanes have bounced back with a pair of decisive victories.

Brian Asbury scored 14 points en route to an 80-45 victory against San Diego, helping Miami clinch a third-place finish at the tournament.

The Hurricanes returned home Saturday and Cyrus McGowan registered a career-high 14 points in a 79-65 triumph over Stetson.
