Griffin, Oklahoma host Gibson, USC

NORMAN, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Blake Griffin has had his way. On Thursday, he may finally go against someone his own size.

Sixth-ranked Oklahoma hosts on Southern California as part of the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood series.

Griffin is averaging 25.7 points and 19.2 rebounds as Oklahoma is off to its best start since 2003 when it went 10-0.

The sophomore will be up against Taj Gibson, who is capable of holding his own. The 6-9 junior is averaging 15.7 points and 11.1 rebounds for the Trojans.

Oklahoma is coming off an 87-82 victory in overtime against then-No. 9 Purdue for the preseason NIT Season Tip-Off title last Friday. Freshman Willie Warren scored 22 points for the Sooners, who attempted 46 free throws compared to just five for the Boilermakers.

After going 1-2 in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, USC has bounced back with two straight wins. The Trojans edged San Francisco, 74-69, on Monday.

Dwight Lewis scored a career-high 26 points in the win and leads the team at 16.6 points per game.
