UCLA hopes to shake off slow start

Dec 7, 2008 - 8:11 AM Cal State Northridge (1-5) at No. 9 UCLA (4-2), 10:30 p.m. EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Ninth-ranked UCLA looks to get back on track when it hosts Cal State Northridge on Sunday.

The Bruins dropped a 68-64 contest at No. 8 Texas on Thursday, their second loss of the season.

It is the earliest that UCLA, which has made three straight Final Four appearances, has lost its second game since it began 3-2 during the 2003-04 campaign.

Senior Darren Collison is averaging 16.2 points and 4.8 assists to lead UCLA, which has won 31 consecutive home games against non-conference opponents.

The Matadors are wrapping up a six-game road trip that has seen them drop the first five contests.

Willie Galick is scoring 11.3 points per contest to lead Cal State Northridge, which is coming off a 55-47 setback at Drexel last Monday.
