Georgetown eyes third straight win

Dec 8, 2008 - 9:24 PM Savannah State (5-3) at No. 19 Georgetown (5-1), 7:30 p.m. EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Since suffering its first loss of the season, Georgetown has used fast starts to help avoid a second setback.

The 19th-ranked Hoyas hope for similar success when they host Savannah State on Monday.

Georgetown lost, 90-78, to then-No. 12 Tennessee on November 28 in the Old Spice Classic but have since posted consecutive lopsided victories over Maryland and American, respectively.

The first half has been key for the Hoyas, who held a 38-20 lead at the break against Maryland and took a 40-12 bulge into the locker rooms in Saturday's 73-49 triumph against American.

Four players are averaging at least 13 points for Georgetown, including DaJuan Summers' 13.7 points per contest.

Savannah State has dropped three of its past four games, including Saturday's 55-37 setback at Saint Louis.

Rashad Hassan is scoring 10.3 points per game to lead the Tigers, who are 0-3 away from home this season.
