Duke meets Xavier at home away from home

Dec 20, 2008 - 2:13 PM No. 7 Xavier (9-0) vs. No. 6 Duke (9-1) 2:00 p.m. EST

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- It may be a neutral site, but Duke certainly looks like the home team when playing at the IZOD Center.

The sixth-ranked Blue Devils look to continue their run of success in East Rutherford when they face No. 7 Xavier on Saturday.

Duke owns a 17-1 record at the Meadowlands, including a 10-0 mark in the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Devils have also won eight of their nine games here as a ranked team.

Duke's last game at the venue was an enormous success. The top-ranked team at the time, the Blue Devils crushed then-No. 2 Texas, 97-66, on December 10, 2005.

Kyle Singler scored 14 points and added eight rebounds, helping the Blue Devils bounce back from their first loss of the season with a 99-56 victory over North Carolina-Asheville on Wednesday.

Xavier continued its season-opening win streak last Saturday, forging a 76-66 win against cross-town rival Cincinnati.

Derrick Brown, the team's leading scorer had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Musketeers, who will try to equal the best start in school history. The 1996-97 squad was the only other team to begin the campaign with 10 straight wins.
