Louisville eyeing rare neutral site victory

Dec 20, 2008 - 2:23 PM No. 9 Louisville (7-1) vs. Minnesota (9-0), 2:00 p.m. EST

GLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Louisville has struggled on neutral courts recently, but hopes it managed to build some momentum during its last game.

The ninth-ranked Cardinals go for their sixth straight win on Saturday when they meet Minnesota in the Stadium Shootout.

After claiming a 64-53 victory against Old Dominion at the Las Vegas Invitational on November 24, 2007, Louisville dropped five of its next six regular season games at neutral sites.

That slide was halted momentarily on Thursday as Earl Clark set career highs with 25 points and 16 rebounds, leading the Cardinals to a 77-68 victory over Mississippi during the SEC/Big East Invitational at U.S. Bank Area in Cincinnati.

Minnesota has been throttling opponents lately, shooting 52 percent from the field during its last five games - all double-digit wins.

Damian Johnson, the Golden Gophers' second-leading scorer, had a career-high 21 points on December 10, pacing the team to a 74-60 victory over South Dakota State.
