Portland State to try and spring another upset

Dec 29, 2008 - 5:58 PM Portland State (10-3) at No. 20 Baylor (10-1), 8:00 p.m. EST

WACO, Texas (Ticker) -- Going against one of the surprise teams of the past week, Baylor should be well aware of what its next opponent is capable of.

The 20th-ranked Bears will try for their fifth straight win when they host Portland State on Monday.

Baylor won its fourth straight game, a 74-59 triumph against Hartford on December 22, but Portland State comes in winners of three straight as well.

The Vikings pulled one of the bigger upsets of the season thus far, winning at then-No. 7 Gonzaga, 77-70, last Tuesday.

Curtis Jerrells leads the Bears at 17.2 points and 6.3 assists per game and is coming off the fourth triple-double in Baylor history against Hartford. The senior guard had 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Portland State won at Texas Southern, 63-55, on Saturday.

Jeremiah Dominguez leads five players averaging in double figures at 13.5 points per game. The 5-6 senior guard made seven 3-pointers and had 25 points in the win against Gonzaga.
