Boston College looks to rebound after embarrassing defeat

Jan 10, 2009 - 11:40 AM Miami (11-3) at No. 24 Boston College (13-3), 7:00 p.m. EST

CHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- Any momentum Boston College gained from a win over the nation's top-ranked team wore off -- immediately.

The 24th-ranked Eagles hope to rebound from a terrible loss when they host Miami on Saturday.

Boston College (13-3, 1-0 ACC) won its Atlantic Coast Conference opener, a stunning 85-78 victory over previously No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday.

The Eagles were outplayed and embarrassed on their home floor en route to an 82-70 setback to Harvard on Wednesday, snapping a 10-game winning streak.

Leading scorer Tyrece Rice was held scoreless in the first half and finished with 14 in the loss. The senior is scoring 17.1 per contest.

Since dropping its conference opener to Clemson on December 21, Miami (11-3, 0-1) has won four straight games, including Monday's 85-69 triumph over Florida Atlantic.

Jack McClinton is scoring 17.3 points per game to lead the Hurricanes, who split the two meetings with the Eagles last season.
