Coming off loss, Michigan hosts Ohio State

Jan 17, 2009 - 11:21 AM Ohio State (12-3) at NO. 24 Michigan (13-4) 8:00 p.m. EST

ANN ARBOR, Michigan (Ticker) -- Michigan celebrated its new ranking with its worst offensive output of the season and will likely drop out of the polls because of it.

The 24th-ranked Wolverines hope to show what earned them a spot when they host arch-rival Ohio State on Saturday.

Manny Harris scored 20 points but received little help from his friends as Michigan dropped a 65-51 road contest to Illinois. While Harris made 7-of-13 from the field, the rest of the team shot just 26 percent (12-of-46).

Harris, who leads Michigan with 18.7 points and 4.7 assists per game, had 15 of the Wolverines' 20 second-half points.

Michigan (13-4, 3-2 Big Ten) had won its previous three games, all in conference play.

Ohio State (12-3, 2-2) has recovered from a stretch of three losses in four games with two blowout victories in its last two games.

William Buford led four players in double figures with 19 points and the Buckeyes used a lethal 3-point attack to rout Indiana, 77-53, on Tuesday.

Buford sank four 3-pointers and Jon Diebler connected five times from behind the arc as Ohio State sank 13-of-24 from deep as a team. Diebler scored 17 while freshman B.J. Mullens added 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
