Xavier eyeing eighth straight win at LSU

Jan 24, 2009 - 11:30 AM No. 13 Xavier (16-2) at LSU (15-3), 8:00 pm EST

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Xavier will hope to continue its roll in a venue few visitors have had success.

The 13th-ranked Musketeers aim for their eighth consecutive victory Saturday when they face LSU, which has won 17 straight home games.

C.J. Anderson scored 15 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out four assists as Xavier cruised to an 84-64 victory over St. Bonaventure on Wednesday.

Reserve Brad Redford had 14 points, Jason Love finished with 11 and Derrick Brown collected nine and eight boards for the Musketeers, who meet their final non-conference opponent of the season.

It won't be easy against the Tigers, who have posted a 14-0 home record this season and have not lost at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center since February 16.

Marcus Thornton scored 31 points as LSU continued its home-court dominance with an 81-57 triumph over Mississippi State on Wednesday.

Thornton is averaging a team-high 18.3 points. He is shooting 40 percent (36-of-91) from the arc.
