Red-hot Louisville visits Syracuse

Jan 25, 2009 - 7:01 AM No. 12 Louisville (14-3) at No. 8 Syracuse (17-3), 12:00 p.m. EST

SYRACUSE, New York (Ticker) -- Louisville's defense has been stellar during a six-game winning streak. To stay unbeaten in the Big East Conference, it will have to find a way to slow down Syracuse at the Carrier Dome.

The 12th-ranked Cardinals go for their seventh straight win when they visit the eighth-ranked Orange on Sunday.

Louisville (14-3, 5-0 Big East) is allowing 60.7 points per contest and held Rutgers to 38.6 percent shooting (22-of-57) on Wednesday in a 78-59 triumph. Earl Clark leads a balanced Louisville attack at 14 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.

The Orange (17-3, 5-2), who rank second in the Big East in scoring at 80.5 points per game, are finishing up a stretch of games against four ranked opponents. Syracuse is 1-2 in those games thus far, defeating Notre Dame while losing to Georgetown and Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh successfully slowed down Syracuse last Monday, posting a 78-60 victory. Andy Rautins scored 17 points in the loss.

The Orange are 12-1 at home this season and have topped the 70-point mark in all but one of those games - a 72-69 loss to Cleveland State.

Louisville is 0-3 all-time at the Carrier Dome.
