Texas looks to continue domination of Baylor

Jan 27, 2009 - 2:29 PM No. 12 Texas (14-4) at Baylor (15-4), 9:00 p.m. EST

WACO, Texas (Ticker) -- Hoping to avoid falling further in the Big 12 Conference, Baylor will have to accomplish something it hasn't done in nearly 11 years: defeat Texas.

The Bears look to bounce back from a loss when they host the 12th-ranked Longhorns on Tuesday.

Baylor (15-4, 3-2 Big 12) is coming off a loss at No. 5 Oklahoma on Saturday, but has another chance to record a victory over a ranked opponent.

Unfortunately for Baylor, that team is Texas, which has won the last 22 meetings between the teams. The Bears have not beaten the Longhorns since an 80-75 victory on February 21, 1998.

Curtis Jerrells leads five Bears players in double figures at 17.6 points per game. LaceDarius Dunn is scoring 16.9 points off the bench.

Texas (14-4, 3-1) has won two straight games, including a 67-58 triumph over Texas A&M on Saturday. Damion James scored a career-high 28 points in the victory.

Longhorns guard A.J. Abrams, who is averaging a team-high 16.9 points per game, is three made 3-pointers away from tying the all-time Big 12 Conference mark of 338 set by Jeff Boschee of Kansas from 1999-2002.
