Red-hot Louisville hosts South Florida

Jan 28, 2009 - 11:24 AM South Florida (7-12) at No. 7 Louisville (15-3), 7:00 p.m. EST

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Louisville has beaten some of the top teams in the Big East during its winning streak. The Cardinals should have no trouble extending their run against one of the lesser teams in the conference.

The seventh-ranked Cardinals look to make it eight in a row when they host South Florida on Wednesday.

During its surge, Louisville (15-3, 6-0 Big East) has defeated the likes of Villanova, previously unbeaten Pittsburgh and is coming off a 67-57 triumph at then-No. 8 Syracuse on Sunday.

Earl Clark had 16 points and 13 rebounds in the win. The 6-9 junior made the go-ahead 3-pointer with just over two minutes to play.

Louisville also has a win over South Florida (7-12, 2-5), a 71-57 triumph on January 7.

The Bulls, who are 1-5 on the road, have not defeated a Big East team besides a pair of wins over winless DePaul.

Dominique Jones is averaging 18.4 points per game to lead South Florida, which is coming off a 70-61 setback to Villanova on Saturday.
