UCLA looks to bounce back vs. California

Jan 29, 2009 - 11:22 AM California (16-4) at No. 16 UCLA (15-4) 10:30 p.m. EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- UCLA has hit the skids in Pac-10 play. A date with a rival should wake the Bruins up.

UCLA will be looking to bounce back for a loss when it faces California on Thursday.

The Bruins (15-4, 5-2 Pac-10) have dropped two of three after a 10-game winning streak, sandwiching a win over lowly Washington State between losses to Arizona State and Washington. They allowed a season-high 86 points against the Huskies, including 48 after the break.

Josh Shipp scored 25 points in the setback and ranks second on the team, averaging 12.4 points per contest. Darren Collison leads the team in scoring at 14.4.

California (16-4, 5-2) bounced back from two straight losses with a 76-69 win over Oregon on Saturday. Jerome Randle led the way with 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting and Jamal Boykin added 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Golden Bears, who lead the nation in 3-point shooting percentage at 46.9, connected on 3-of-8 attempts against the Ducks.

UCLA took all three meetings between the teams last season en route to a third straight Pac-10 title.
