Struggling Georgetown visits red-hot Marquette

Jan 31, 2009 - 11:24 AM No. 23 Georgetown (12-7) at No. 8 Marquette (18-2), 2:00 p.m. EST

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Georgetown has lost four straight games and will be its next game without its leading scorer. To make matters worse, the Hoyas are taking on the Big East Conference's hottest team.

The 23rd-ranked Hoyas hope to end their skid when they visit No. 8 Marquette on Saturday.

Georgetown (12-7, 3-5 Big East) has lost six of its last eight overall and is coming off a 65-57 setback at Cincinnati on Wednesday.

During the defeat, the Hoyas lost DaJuan Summers to a left foot injury, and the junior is doubtful to play against the Golden Eagles. Summers is scoring 14.7 points to lead Georgetown.

Tied with Louisville atop the conference standings, Marquette (18-2, 7-0) has won 10 straight contests.

Jerel McNeal scored 27 points to lead the Golden Eagles to a 71-64 victory at Notre Dame on Monday.

McNeal is averaging 19.4 points and Wesley Matthews is scoring 19 per game to lead Marquette, which averages a conference-best 81 points per contest.
