Syracuse hopes to halt slide

SYRACUSE, New York (Ticker) -- Syracuse's fast start is beginning to become a distant memory.

The 20th-ranked Orange look to snap a three-game losing streak when they host West Virginia in a Big East Conference matchup on Wednesday.

Syracuse (17-5, 5-4 Big East) began the season with 16 wins in its first 17 games but has faltered of late.

Jonny Flynn scored a career-high 35 points but Syracuse lost at Providence, 100-94, last Wednesday. Flynn leads five players in double figures at 16.8 points per game.

West Virginia (15-6, 4-4) has dropped two of its past three, including a 69-63 setback at Louisville on Saturday.

Da'Sean Butler scored 23 points in the loss and leads the Mountaineers in scoring at 17.6 points per game.

The Mountaineers won the lone meeting last season, 81-61.
