Utah State looks to keep rolling

LOGAN, Utah (Ticker) -- Ranked for the first time in five years, No. 22 Utah State looks to extend its winning streak to 17 games when it hosts New Mexico State in a Western Athletic Conference contest on Thursday.

The Aggies (21-1, 9-0 WAC), who are ranked for the first time since 2003-04, are on the third-longest winning streak in school history. Utah State won a school-record 19 consecutive contests during the 1999-2000 campaign.

Utah State nearly had its streak broken in its last game, but pulled the win out in overtime, 83-77, at Fresno State on Saturday.

Gary Wilkinson scored 33 points in the win and leads the team in scoring at 17.3 per contest.

New Mexico State (11-11, 5-4) has won back-to-back games, including an 82-72 victory against Hawaii on Saturday.

Jahmar Young is averaging 18.3 points per game to lead the Aggies. He had a team-high 25 against Hawaii.

Utah State, which won the first meeting at New Mexico State, 77-67, on January 10, has won 29 straight home games.
