Pittsburgh aims to continue offense surge

Feb 9, 2009 - 10:34 PM West Virginia (16-7) at No. 4 Pittsburgh (21-2), 7:00 p.m. EST

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Since scoring 57 points in a loss to Villanova, Pittsburgh has had no problems putting the ball in the basket over its three-game winning streak.

The fourth-ranked Panthers hope to continue their offensive prowess when they host West Virginia on Monday.

After topping the 90-point plateau twice over its first 20 games of the season, Pittsburgh (21-2, 8-2 Big East) has scored 92 or more points in three straight games during its winning streak.

DeJuan Blair had a career-high 32 points and 14 rebounds as the Panthers defeated DePaul, 92-69, on Saturday. Levance Fields added 13 points and 16 assists in the win for Pittsburgh, which is 14-0 at home this season.

The Panthers' offense will be put to the test against the Mountaineers (16-7, 5-5), who allow a Big East Conference-low 60.6 points per game.

West Virginia, which is 2-6 against the top-25 this season, is coming off an 86-59 rout of Providence on Saturday.

Alex Ruoff scored 24 points and Da'Sean Butler added 17 and nine to lead the Mountaineers, who lost to the Panthers, 79-67, on January 25.
