UCLA hopes to bounce back, cool off Arizona

Feb 14, 2009 - 11:29 AM No. 6 UCLA (19-5) at Arizona (17-8), 1:00 p.m. EST

TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- UCLA looks to return to the win column on Saturday when it visits suddenly sizzling Arizona.

The sixth-ranked Bruins (19-5, 8-3 Pac-10) lost at No. 18 Arizona State, 74-67, on Thursday, falling out of first place in the Pac-10 Conference. Washington (9-3) currently holds a half- game lead.

Josh Shipp scored 16 points and Darren Collison and Michael Roll each added 15 in the loss, which was the Bruins' second straight on the road. UCLA allowed Arizona State to shoot 60 percent (24-of-40) from the field.

UCLA dominated its first meeting with Arizona this season, 83-60, on January 15, but the Wildcats have been a different team of late.

Thought to be left for dead three weeks ago, Arizona (17-8, 7-5) comes in on a six-game winning streak as it tries to keep its NCAA Tournament streak alive. The Wildcats have made it to the NCAAs in 24 consecutive seasons.

Nic Wise scored 27 points and Chase Budinger had 25 as the Wildcats rallied for an 83-76 victory over Southern California on Thursday. Arizona ended the game on a 13-2 run.
