Marquette looks to snap skid

Feb 14, 2009 - 11:28 AM St. John's (12-12) at No. 12 Marquette (20-4), 9:00 p.m. EST

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Marquette seeks to stop is first two-game losing streak of the season when it hosts St. John's on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles (20-4, 9-2 Big East) have lost consecutive games - both on the road - following a 12-game winning streak that had vaulted them to the top of the Big East Conference.

Hoping to avoid slipping further, Marquette could be eager to return to the Bradley Center where it is 14-0 this season.

Jerel McNeal scored 23 points and Lazar Hayward added 22 as the Golden Eagles fell at No. 13 Villanova, 102-84, on Tuesday. McNeal is averaging a team-best 20.2 per contest.

St. John's (12-12, 3-9), which has lost all six of its road games, comes in on a three-game losing streak overall.

Paris Horne scored 20 points as the Red Storm lost at Cincinnati, 71-61, on Wednesday. St. John's shot 32 percent (21-of-65) from the field.

Horne leads the team in scoring at 14.7 points per game.
