Oklahoma looks to keep streak against Texas Tech

Feb 14, 2009 - 11:27 AM Texas Tech (12-12) at No. 2 Oklahoma (24-1) 1:30 p.m. EST

NORMAN, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Before facing a pair of teams that figure to challenge it for the Big 12 regular-season title, Oklahoma will look to avoid a letdown when it hosts Texas Tech on Saturday.

The Sooners (24-1, 10-0 Big 12) are in the midst of their second winning streak of at least 12 games this season and figure to have little trouble against a struggling Red Raiders team.

Led by Player of the Year candidate Blake Griffin, Oklahoma overcame a game Baylor squad Wednesday to win its 13th straight regular season league game, 78-63.

Griffin, who averages 22.1 points and 13.8 rebounds, led the way with 18 and 10 against the Bears. The sensational sophomore has recorded a double-double in seven straight games and 13 of 14.

Austin Johnson added 17 points while Willie Warren and Juan Pattillo contributed 14 points apiece in the win.

Following their matchup with the Red Raiders, the Sooners visit Texas next Saturday before hosting Kansas, which is 8-1 in league play, on February 23.

Texas Tech (12-12, 2-7) has lost eight of its last 10, including an 85-73 setback at Kansas State on Wednesday. The Red Raiders have lost three straight and six of seven to the Sooners.

Nick Okorie scored a season-high 21 points and Alan Voskuil added 17 in the loss to the Wildcats.
