LSU looking for rare road win against Arkansas
Feb 18, 2009 - 11:26 AM No. 24 LSU (21-4) at Arkansas (13-10) 8:00 p.m. ESTFAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas (Ticker) -- Louisiana State is hoping to continue its winning ways in a house of horrors.
The 24th-ranked Tigers will try for their seventh straight victory on Wednesday when they visit Arkansas.
LSU (21-4, 9-1 SEC West) has surged into the national rankings with nine consecutive wins against Southeastern Conference opponents, including a 73-66 victory over Mississippi on Saturday.
The Tigers own a three-game lead atop the conference, but a trip to Bud Walton Arena may not help increase their advantage.
LSU has averaged 56.5 points in losing its last two games in Fayetteville, shooting only 35.9 percent from the field during those contests.
The Tigers are 4-13 all-time on the road against Arkansas and have failed to reach 70 points in seven games there since an 87-70 loss on February 17, 2001.
However, the Razorbacks (13-10, 1-9 West) have struggled to spot any team in the SEC this season, surrendering at least 74 points in dropping each of its last five games - including a 79-63 setback against Kentucky on Saturday.
