Duke looks to rebound at lowly St. John's

Feb 19, 2009 - 3:40 PM No. 9 Duke (20-5) at St. John's (12-13), 7:00 pm EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Duke hopes to get a breather from the Atlantic Coast Conference when it visits one of the bottom-feeders in the Big East.

The ninth-ranked Blue Devils look to snap a two-game losing streak when they visit St. John's on Thursday.

Since climbing to No. 1 in the national coaches' poll, Duke has lost four of its past six games, including three straight on the road.

Kyle Singler scored 25 points and Gerald Henderson had 20 as the Blue Devils lost at Boston College, 80-74, on Sunday.

Duke hopes St. John's gives it the reprieve it needs, as the Red Storm come in on a four-game losing streak and losers in 12 of 15 overall.

Paris Horne scored 23 points as St. John's lost at Marquette, 73-59, on Saturday. Horne leads the team in scoring at 15 per contest.

Duke has won the last five meetings, including an 85-56 rout last season.
