Butler seeks to continue mastery of in-state foes

Dec 6, 2006 - 4:00 PM Ball St (3-4) at No. 14 Butler (9-0) 7:00 pm EST

INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Butler and coach Todd Lickliter are off to a great start, largely due to their play against teams from the "Hoosier State."

The 14th-ranked Bulldogs will try to continue their unbeaten start when they host Ball State on Wednesday.

Butler has already handed losses to in-state opponents Notre Dame, Indiana and Valparaiso. Under Lickliter, the Bulldogs are 9-0 for the third time in six seasons. After Ball State, Butler faces Indiana State, Purdue and Evansville.

Mike Green scored 16 points and A.J. Graves added 14 as the Bulldogs posted a 70-45 rout of Cleveland State on Saturday. The Bulldogs shot 52 percent (25-of-48) from the floor.

The Cardinals ended a four-game losing streak with a 73-70 overtime triumph over Indiana State on Saturday. D'Andre Peyton netted 22 points and Julien Mills added 14 for Ball State, which forced 21 turnovers.

Butler has won 13 straight games at Hinkle Fieldhouse and four straight over Ball State here.
