Curry questionable as Davidson hosts Butler

Feb 21, 2009 - 1:31 PM No. 22 Butler (22-4) at Davidson (22-5), 12:00 p.m. EST

DAVIDSON, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Davidson found how difficult life without Stephen Curry can be. It hopes to have its star back for an important non-conference tilt.

The Wildcats hope to strengthen their NCAA Tournament resume when they host No. 22 Butler on Saturday.

With Curry nursing a sprained right ankle, Davidson was soundly beaten at home by The Citadel, 64-46, on Wednesday.

The nation's leading scorer - at 29 points per contest - had played in all 96 games of his collegiate career prior to sitting out.

Although it is uncertain where Curry will play, Davidson is in need of a big non-conference win. The Wildcats have dropped a pair of Southern Conference games this season and are 0-3 against ranked teams.

Butler already owns a pair of impressive non-conference wins, including a victory at Xavier, but the Bulldogs are on the verge of falling out of the rankings after a pair of losses.

Matt Howard had 20 points and nine rebounds as Butler lost at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 63-60, on Wednesday. Howard is averaging a team-best 14.1 points per contest.
