Syracuse looking for payback against Villanova

Feb 22, 2009 - 2:02 PM No. 14 Villanova (21-5) at No. 21 Syracuse (19-7), 1:00 p.m. EST

SYRACUSE, New York (Ticker) -- Syracuse hopes to have a bit more success than it did against Villanova over two weeks ago.

The 25th-ranked Orange host the 14th-ranked Wildcats in a Big East Conference matchup on Sunday.

The Orange (19-7, 7-6 Big East) have not played since an important 98-94 overtime victory over Georgetown on February 14. The win was just their third win in their last nine games.

Jonny Flynn scored 25 points and Eric Devendorf had 23 to lead Syracuse, which was taken apart in a 102-85 setback at Villanova on Febuary 7. Villanova shot 54.5 percent (36-of-66) in the win.

Dante Cunningham matched a career high with 31 points in the win and leads the Wildcats at 16.5 per contest.

After having its six-game winning streak snapped in a loss at West Virginia, Villanova rebounded with an 82-72 triumph over Rutgers on Thursday.

Scottie Reynolds scored 21 points and Corey Stokes had 17 to pace the Wildcats.
