Illinois aims to bounce back at struggling Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- Illinois is hoping for a little more offense than it got in its last game.

The 16th-ranked Fighting Illini look to bounce back from an embarrassing loss when they visits Ohio State in a Big Ten Conference game on Sunday.

Illinois (21-6, 9-5 Big Ten) managed its lowest offensive game in 52 years during Wednesday's 38-33 loss to Penn State. The Fighting Illini did not attempt a free throw and only shot 30 percent (15-of-50) from the floor.

No player scored more than seven points for Illinois, which had its worst showing since it scored 31 points against Minnesota in 1947. The Fighting Illini scored 36 points against Minnesota earlier this season.

Ranked in the top-25 earlier this season, Ohio State (17-7, 7-6) is looking to snap a two-game losing streak.

The Buckeyes lost at Wisconsin over a week ago and then was beaten at Northwestern, 72-69, on Wednesday. Joe Diebler made eight 3-pointers and scored 28 points in the loss.

Evan Turner is averaging a team-high 17.3 points to lead Ohio State, which lost at Illinois, 67-49, earlier on January 20.
