Arizona State hopes to cool off rival

Feb 22, 2009 - 2:07 PM Arizona (18-8) at No. 11 Arizona State (20-5), 10:00 p.m. EST

TEMPE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Arizona State will have to cool off the hottest team in the Pac-10 if it hopes to keep pace in the conference standings.

The 11th-ranked Sun Devils look to defeat rival Arizona for the fourth straight time when the teams meet Sunday.

Arizona State (20-5, 9-4 Pac-10), which is one game back of Washington (11-4) in the standings, has won three straight games from Arizona for the first time since 1993-95.

However, the Wildcats (18-8, 8-5) have not lost since the 53-47 setback to the Sun Devils on January 21 as they come in on a seven-game winning streak.

Derek Glasser scored a career-high 18 points and James Harden added 18 as Arizona State won its fourth straight game with a 65-53 victory over Southern California last Sunday. Harden leads the Pac-10 in scoring at 21.3 per contest.

Arizona has topped the 80-point plateau in each of its last three wins, including an 84-72 triumph over No. 15 UCLA on February 14.

Nic Wise scored 26 points and Jordan Hill had 22 and 13 rebounds in the win. Hill is averaging 18.2 points and 11.3 rebounds to lead the Wildcats.
